Samenvatting
In recent years, on the issue of large heritage areas' protected course, local government used to move the original residents on site out to solve the economic backwardness problem, and then made the heritage ruin sites "park-like". With the rapid development of the area, the original urban form has undergone irreversible changes. From the perspective of the protection of city's historical continuity, authenticity and integrity, these actions have to face many challenges. In this paper, it points out that "authenticity" is one of the most important parts in the great sites' protection process, even determines whether the site's protection measures are truly sustainable. Taking Xi'an city as an example, Xingqing Palace Heritage Ruin Park which is the earliest heritage ruin park in China, and the newly finished Daming Palace Heritage Ruin Park are chosen to carry out comparative case studies. While discussing the policies and measures on protection and utilization in different periods, the article also focuses on the importance of the "authenticity" in the two heritage ruin parks.
