Projectdetails

Omschrijving

The Netherlands are and have been the “the Gateway to Europe” for decades. Its central location is a perfect basis for international logistics, in which the maritime sector plays a crucial role. The vast majority of intercontinental goods flows reach our country by sea.

Monitoring and redirecting
In order to maintain and strengthen our position, an optimal availability of people, resources and equipment is of major importance. Technological developments help us in this. The consistent monitoring and on-board and remote redirecting and servicing of maritime systems is enabled by advanced sensors and actuator networks. Smart remote (shore) control functions need to be developed in order to be able to monitor and, if necessary, act upon basic functions of a ship. Anticipatory insight in or at least timely recognition of degradation and (the possibility of) failure of systems or components is crucial, to subsequently take appropriate service logistic actions.

Control towers
The MARCONI research project aims to develop service logistics control towers, in a maritime setting. These decision support models will integrate the planning of operations, maintenance, and resources. The research consortium consists of knowledge institutions and companies in the supply chain. The project is organized through four industry pilots on the topics of integrated planning, obsolescence management, control towers, and network business models/value propositions.
