Catalysts mostly consist of metal nanoparticles stabilised on a porous carrier. The researchers will investigate how catalytic reactions take place on the boundary between nanoparticles and the carrier material. One of the applications is the splitting of water into hydrogen and oxygen with the help of sunlight.
