Are you looking forward to having a sustainable city, mobility and living environment? Let’s understand citizens’ decision-making process first to administer the sustainable environment along with their needs!
Research profile
Soora Rasouli is a Full Professor in the Department of the Built Environment at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Rasouli leads the Urban Planning and Transportation group, where the focus is on developing models on citizens’ travel behavior with special attention paid to the recent advances in transport technology including EV, autonomous driving and Mobility as a service. These models are integrated into decision support systems for urban planning design and policy decisions. Understanding citizens’ need and their decision mechanisms helps policy makers to advocate soft interventions in line with policies and plans’ objectives. In this manner, not only the gradual move towards a sustainable urban environment but also quality of life and people’s travel satisfaction can be guaranteed.
Academic background
Soora Rasouli obtained her PhD at TU/e under supervision of Prof. Harry Timmermans. In 2013, Rasouli was appointed Assistant Professor at TU/e (department of Built Environment). Since Aug 2018 Rasouli, has been a Full Professor at TU/e, leading the Urban Planning and Transportation group. She also holds an MSc in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Transport Engineering.
In addition, she is an elected member of TRB, WCTR and other committees on travel demand forecasting and travel survey methods. Soora has published several books, acted as guest editor of several journals, is co-editor of a consumer science journal, serves on the editorial board of several journals in transportation research and urban planning. Furthermore, she has published about 70 articles and book chapters, and more than 100 conference papers, several of which won awards. Two of her papers are amongst the most cited articles of International Journal of Urban Science and Travel Behavior and Society. She has worked on several European and national projects such as Insight, Uncertweb, FNRL: Connecting, NWO-SURF: Scripts, Furtas.
