Academic background

Robert earned his bachelor's degree in biotechnology from Van Hall Larenstein in Leeuwarden, where he specialised in downstream processing and the valorisation of waste streams. For his bachelor’s thesis, he focused on isolating sterols from biomass, a project he continued as an R&D chemist at Carbogen Amcis after graduation.

In 2021, Robert relocated to Norway to pursue a master's degree in Sustainable Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim. His master’s thesis, supervised by Prof. De Chen, investigated the vapor phase conversion of acetic acid over metal oxide catalysts under hydropyrolysis conditions.
