Research profile

Rob Basten is associate professor at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). He is active in operations management and behavioral operations management, with a focus on maintenance, spare parts supply and other after-sales services. He is especially interested in using new technologies to improve such services, e.g., additive manufacturing of spare parts, and in human behavior in the context of human decision makers collaborating with decision support systems. Many of Rob's research projects are interdisciplinary, aiming to carry out high quality research while solving problems in practice. For the latter reason, research is typically performed in cooperation with high-tech industry, companies such as ASML, NXP, Canon Production Printing, and Marel Poultry, or the Ministry of Defence. That experience is also used in teaching, for example in the courses Maintenance & Service Logistics and Behavioral Operations Management.
