Dr. ir. R. (Rick) Scholte (1979) obtained his MSc degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Twente, the Netherlands in March 2004 and in December 2008 he obtained his PhD degree at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), based on his thesis Fourier Based High-resolution Near-Field Sound Imaging. In January 2009 he founded the high-tech spin-off company Sorama, which specializes in high-resolution Sound Imaging systems, noise control service and research. Besides entereneurial activities he cooperates closely with TU/e research groups in the fields of dynamics, acoustics, signal processing and embedded systems. His scientific interests are signal processing, data acquisition, active noise cancellation, image processing, sensors, embedded systems and software development. For his PhD research he was awarded STW Simon Stevin fellow of 2009 for best technical research with succesful valorisation activities.
