Quote

“It is people’s creativity in finding new ways of interacting with one another, with the built environment that makes the world interesting and challenging.”

Research profile

Qi Han is an Assistant Professor in the Department of the Built Environment at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Her areas of expertise include econometrics and spatial analysis, game theory and choice modeling in urban sustainable transformation. Her research focuses on stakeholder involvement and urban management addressing sustainable development and circular economy.

Urban process modelling requires knowledge in the field of operations management, information management, multi-agents systems and process optimization. She tries to explore the interactions between multiple public and private actors, and stakeholders at regional and local levels towards urban growth patterns in terms of spatial changes, integration of ICT and circular economy on urban environments, effect of human behavior and habits on resource consumption to provide decision support for policy makers.

Academic background

Qi Han obtained her PhD in Urban Planning from TU/e, with a thesis named ‘Modeling Strategic Behavior in Anticipation of Congestion’. She also holds an MSc in Urban Planning and development from Tohuku University, Japan, and a BSc in architect from Tongji University, China. Between 1995 and 1998 she worked as an architect at ECEPDI (East China Electric Power Design Institute).

Qi has been published in Energy Policy, Environment and Planning B, Journal of Urban Planning and Development, Land use policy, Sustainability, International journal of project management, Ecological Indicator, Applied Geography, etc. She served as reviewers for international journals and conferences, and acts as co-promotors in PhD projects. She is also involved in the TU/e Data Science Center Eindhoven (DSC/e) Big Data Alliance.
