Peerapol Pornsetmetakul obtained his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Thailand, in 2018. Later, he started his master's and Ph.D. at Vidyasirimedhi institute of science and technology (VISTEC) and joined Porous Heterogeneous Catalysis Center (PHCC). He earned the Srimedhi scholarship and VISTEC-PTT scholarship, funding his research abroad. He joined the Inorganic Materials & Catalysis (IMC) group. Since 2020, He is double doctoral candidate in chemical engineering of TU/e and Vidyasirimedhi institute of science and technology (VISTEC), Thailand, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Emiel J.M. Hensen and Asst. Prof. Dr. Chularat Wattanakit.
Peerapol’s research focuses on developing hierarchically porous solid materials for sustainable production of chemicals through heterogeneous catalyzed reactions. In particular, the aim is to explore and fabricate well-defined hierarchical porous materials and understand the vital role of hierarchical porosity and different active sites. The materials explored include zeolitic or silicate-based materials containing reactive centers. The exploration approach is to combine
Advancing the understanding of functionalized solid based on zeolites and its metal containing zeolites ultimately improves the currently known catalytic biomass conversion and novel process, such as, conversion of bioethanol and sugar derivative compounds on multiple reactive sites.
