Research profile

Mohammadreza Zolfagharian holds a PhD from TU/e, where he worked on a thesis entitled: ‘How to Study Transition Problems?’. His dissertation contains various methodological reflections on systems innovation and transition research as well as theoretical and practical insights about modeling transition dynamics using a multi-methodology approach.

Currently, his main research interests lie on studying dynamics and governance of transition processes. In particular, he draws on systems thinking and systems modeling to study fundamental shifts in social systems, and to design systemic instruments in order to influence transitions. In this regard, he is also enthusiastic to explore and bridge diverse approaches, theories and methodologies across disciplinary divides and beyond science to investigate systems innovation in various contexts.

Mohammadreza has been involved in several research projects and his work has appeared in scholarly publications such as Research PolicyJournal of SimulationFoundations of Science, and Sustainability.
