Research profile
Mehrdad Mohammadi is Assistant Professor in Operations Research and Machine Learning at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), within the Operations, Planning, Accounting, and Control (OPAC) research group at the department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences (IE&IS). His research interest is integrating Machine Learning techniques, especially Reinforcement Learning, into Optimization Algorithms, especially Meta-heuristics, to solve (Online) Combinatorial Optimization Problems related to Industry 4.0 and Sustainable Supply Chain Management.
Academic background
Mehrdad Mohammadi received his M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from University of Tehran (Iran) in 2011. After that, he obtained his Ph.D. (2011-2015) in Industrial Engineering under a joint-supervision program between University of Tehran (Iran) and École nationale supérieure d'Arts et Métiers (France). Mehrdad carried out a Postdoctoral research (2015-2017) on Performance Evaluation in Semiconductor Industry at École des Mines de Saint-Étienne (France). Before joining TU/e, Mehrdad was Associate Professor (2017-2023) in Operations Research and Machine Learning at IMT Atlantique (France).
Quote
"Real-world optimization problems are getting more complex every day! This makes classical optimization algorithms disable to solve them in real time. We, therefore, need advanced and efficient algorithms which are also fast and intelligent."
