My focus is on the modeling, design and optimization of electric drive systems to realize the ambition that in the near future all transportation applications are propelled by efficient solutions.
Research profile
Matthijs Kleijer is a Doctoral Candidate and Teaching Assistant (TA) in the Electromechanics and Power Electronics (EPE) Group within the Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e).
His research concentrates on the design and optimization of rotary and linear electric drives producing high force densities for automotive and other mobility applications.
Additionally, Matthijs is working on a modeling framework that allows for efficient dynamic analysis of such machines.
Academic background
In 2016 Matthijs Kleijer obtained the Bachelor of Science degree (BSc) at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) after succesfully completing the Automotive Engineering (AU) track.
Afterwards, he continued his academic career within the field of Electrical Engineering (EE) at the Electromechanics and Power Electronics (EPE) Group of the same university.
In 2019 he received his Master of Science degree (MSc) thanks to his graduation work related to the modeling framework for efficient analysis of energy harvesters in automotive suspension applications. This work was later presented at the 12th International Symposium on Linear Drives for Industry Applications (LDIA) in Neuchâtel, Switzerland and was, subsequently, published in the conference proceedings.
Onderwijs en Doceren
5EWA0 - Electromechanics - Lab supervisor:
During the laboratory exercises related to this course, Bachelor students must measure and characterize three different electrical machines: a DC machine, an asynchronous induction machine and a permanent magnet synchronous machine.
The supervision activities in the lab during this period will concern the theoretical explanation of the machine behavior and MATLAB coding, as well as the recommendations on academic paper writing towards the Bachelor students.
