Research profile

Laura Iapichino is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Her areas of expertise include Numerical Analysis, Modeling and Simulation, Scientific Computing, Model Order Reduction, Computational Mathematics, Mathematical Modeling and Programming, Applied Mathematics, CFD, and (multi-objective) optimization.

Laura’s research focuses on the following areas:

Academic background

Laura Iapichino obtained her PhD, in Applied Mathematics from the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (Switzerland). She also holds an MSc in Applied Mathematics  from the Università degli Studi di Milano (Italy) and a BSc from Università di Catania. Before joining TU/e in 2017, she was a postdoctoral researcher at Delft University of Technology, working on residual stress estimation in ink jet membrane pumps. Prior to this, Laura was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Konstanz, working on development, analysis and computer implementation of new innovative techniques for the solution of mathematical models based on parametrized partial differential equations coming from computational science.  

Laura publishes regularly and has spoken at a significant number of conferences, seminars and workshops. These include the 2016 Workshop on Optimal and Feedback Control of Differential Equations, SIMAI 2016 Italian Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and ECCOMAS 2016, VII European Congress on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences and Engineering.
