Academic background

Koen obtained his MSc. degree at the Applied Physics department of the University of Groningen (UG). His MSc. dissertation was carried out on coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations of the yeast Nuclear Pore Complex in the Micromechanics research group under the supervision of professor Patrick Onck and professor Erik van der Giessen.
Currently, Koen is a Ph.D. student at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) – Applied Physics and Science Education with the Materials Simulation & Modelling (MSM) and Data Mining groups. He works on the material DNA project under the supervision of professor Sofia Calero and Vlado Menkovski.
