Research profile

Juliëtte van Duijnhoven is a postdoctoral researcher within the Building Lighting group embedded in the unit Building Physics and Services of the department of the Built Environment (TU/e). She brings in expertise on measuring and evalulating lighting conditions in and around the built environment. She has been investigating and developing novel methods to gather personal lighting conditions of individuals and has been analyzing the effects of light exposure on human health, performance, and wellbeing. During her PhD work she mostly focused on office environments, but the context got extended to home environments (specifically home-offices) and public outdoor places.

Within the TU/e, Juliëtte is member of the Health in the Built Environment (HitBE) team as well as member of the Intelligent Lighting Institute (ILI).

In addition, Juliëtte chairs the core team indoor lighting at the Dutch association of light (NSVV). With a mixture of industrial and academic members within this core team, she works on human-centric-lighting, explanations of European standards, lighting conditions when working from home, and lighting control systems. The knowledge will be shared via joint publications or (online) symposia or webinars. Furthermore, Juliëtte is member of the executive committee of the European Lighting Expert Association (ELE-A).

Academic background

Juliëtte van Duijnhoven obtained her BSc degree in Building Engineering (TU/e) in 2012. In 2015, she obtained her MSc degree within the same department, specialized on building physics and services (Building Lighting - TU/e). Lastly, Juliëtte obtained her PhD degree cum laude in 2019 (TU/e).

Onderwijs en Doceren

Juliëtte has been involved in many teaching activities. In 2018, she obtained her University Teaching Qualification (BKO). Currently, she is responsible for two master courses and she is co-teaching in five bachelor courses, all related to light. In addition, she has been supervising over ten students doing a master research project and eight students doing a graduation project within the Building Lighting group.
