Research profile

Jet Peters is a Doctoral Candidate (PhD) in the Orthopaedic Biomechanics group under the supervision of Keita Ito and Jasper Foolen. Her project focuses on determining the growth mechanism of the unique collagen architecture in articular cartilage. This research is part of the Dutch Gravitation program Materials Driven Regeneration.

Academic background

Jet studied the bachelor Medical Sciences and Technology (TU/e), where she received her degree in 2019. She continued her studies at the TU/e to obtain her master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2023. For her graduation project she worked on the development and evaluation of a silk reinforced hydrogel for the treatment of cartilage, in the Orthopaedic Biomechanics research group lead by Keita Ito. She completed her master’s degree with an internship at the University of Melbourne (Melbourne, Australia) in the Integrative Cartilage Research Group (ICRG) of professor Kathryn Stok. There she worked on a workflow for the volume extraction of fluorescent labeled matrix in 3D confocal microscopy images. In the beginning of 2023, she started as a PhD candidate in the Orthopaedic Biomechanics group where she will work on engineering the collagen architecture in articular cartilage.
