Research profile
Dr. Rong-Hao Liang is an assistant professor in the Future Everyday Group, Department of Industrial Design and the Signal Processing Systems Group, Department of Electrical Engineering at TU/e. His research focuses on designing and engineering intelligent sensing systems and user interface technology for ubiquitous computing and embodied human-computer interaction (HCI). He also co-chaired and co-organized several international conferences and regularly served as a technical program committee member for premier ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) conferences, including CHI, UIST, and DIS. He has more than 70 peer-reviewed publications and more than 10 patents, has been awarded one Best Paper Award and several Honorable Mentions.
Academic background
Rong-Hao Liang holds a PhD in Computer Science (2014) and an MSc in Electrical Engineering (2010) from National Taiwan University. In 2015, he founded GaussToys Inc. in Taiwan, a company using magnetic-field sensors to create innovative ways to interact with computers. From 2014 to 2016, Liang was an assistant research fellow at the Intel-NTU Research Center of Connected Context Computing at National Taiwan University. In 2016, he joined the Industrial Design department of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) as an Assistant Professor. In 2021, he was cross-appointed to the Electrical Engineering department of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) as an Assistant Professor.

Research topics I am interested in coaching
“I facilitate passion-driven projects related to students' interests and hobbies. I support students in designing innovative yet practical user interfaces with emerging technologies. I would love to work with students who dare to accept grand challenges.”
Vision on education, coaching style
“My core mission in education is to sustain students' curiosity and enable them to create valuable things professionally. I keep students motivated, empowered, and focused on their attention and enthusiasm until they meet their learning objectives. I ensure that students do things right before they do the right things, fostering a solid execution of technical realization when they apply their creativity to crafting practical, applicable solutions for real-world problems. I guide students to become ambitious, self-directed learners who think creatively and act professionally.”
Expertise gerelateerd aan duurzame ontwikkelingsdoelstellingen van de VN
