Complex phenomena can be divided in bits and pieces - Finding the most important ones is the key to making an impact!

Research profile

I am an Assistant Professor in the section Energy Technology at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Here, I am part of the group "Multiscale Operations in Porous Systems" (MOPS), where I investigate, how flow in porous substrates can be used in the transition towards a renewable industry. As part of my research, I investigate model approaches from pore to application level and aim provide fast and easy-to-use solutions which offer the best trade-off between complexity and reliability. My main research interest focuses on reactive multi-phase flows, as they appear in chemical reactors, catalysis, heat storage and subsurface reservoirs.

Academic background

I obtained my degree as a Chemical Engineer at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany) in 2017. Until 2019, I worked on the synthesis of carbon nano fibers as a researcher in the Boreskov Insitute of Catalysis (Novosibirsk, Russia). In 2024, I received my PhD degree from the Eindhoven University of Technology for my work on a "Multiscale Approach to the Drying of Supported Catalysts" in the Chemical Engineering and Chemistry departement. During my PostDoc in the department of Mechanical Engineering I worked on the characterization of complex porous substrates and development of high-fidelity model approaches for making digital porous media twins a reality.

Currently I am an Assistant Professor in the group Energy Technology of the Mechanical Engineering Department where I work on the modeling and design of sustainable energy systems.
