Research profile

Carianne Pretorius graduated with her MA Socio-Informatics Cum Laude from Stellenbosch University, South Africa in March 2016. Her thesis addressed the features that procedural decision support systems, built specifically for addressing wicked problems, incorporated in the literature. The results of this research were presented in September 2016 at the South African Institute for Computer Scientists and Information Technologists (SAICSIT) conference, and were subsequently incorporated into a journal article for the South African Computer Journal (SACJ) in 2017. Carianne is currently employed as a PhD Candidate at the Innovation, Technology, Entrepreneurship and Marketing (ITEM) group at the School of Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences at TU/e. Her research interests broadly relate to human aspects of computing, as well as decision making in related contexts. Carianne's current research involves investigating decision making in the software design process, particularly in terms of dual-process accounts of reasoning.
