"Learn to acknowledge and even joke about your shortcomings, but always seek to improve so that the person you are tomorrow is the person you wish you were yesterday."
Benn Proper is a Ph.D. candidate in the Soft Robotics and Haptics group within the Dynamics and Control section of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. In close collaboration with the Neuromorphic Engineering group within the Microsystems section, his current research focuses on the design and development of a smart and adaptive gripper. This will be achieved using a multidisciplinary approach of haptics, neuromorphic engineering, and robotics design where the resulting gripper is able to grasp various objects, collect data to assess the current gripping approach, and adapt its approach accordingly.
Benn Proper obtained his BSc. (2019) and MSc. (2022) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). In collaboration with the Technical University of Munich (TUM), he started his graduation project on the classification of simulated simultaneous impact behavior in 2020. Following this, he did his internship at TUM to validate the found simulated results on an experimental setup. In May 2022, he started his Ph.D. at the TU/e, where he focuses on the design and development of a personalized smart and adaptive gripper.
