Research profile

Arjan Markus is an Assistant Professor in the Innovation, Technology Entrepreneurship and Marketing (ITEM) group at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His research focuses on the role of networks and labor mobility in organizational innovation. Specifically, Arjan studies how collaboration within and between organizations affect innovative outcomes. He also has an interest in how the recruitment of R&D scientists and engineers affects the rate and direction of firm-level innovation. His work has been published in the Strategic Management Journal and the Academy of Management Best Paper Proceedings.

Academic background

Arjan Markus obtained his PhD in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Copenhagen Business School, Denmark in 2014. During his PhD, he visited the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, USA, and he did so again later on as a postdoc. Arjan also holds BSc and MSc degrees in Human Geography and Planning from Utrecht University. Prior to joining Eindhoven University of Technology, Arjan worked as an Assistant Professor at Tilburg University. He joined the ITEM group at TU/e in 2019 and teaches Strategy and Technology Management and Introduction to Technology Entrepreneurship.
