Academic background
Andrea Dominguez Gamez joined the Built Environment department as a PhD candidate of the Urban planning and transport research group. In 2022 she got a M.Sc. degree on civil engineering with an emphasis on transport and in 2020 she graduated as a Civil Engineer at Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia. Both of her thesis contained in great amount data analysis and modelling. For her bachelor’s thesis she modeled the daily demand of Bogotá’s Bus Rapid Transit using ARIMA and SARIMA time series. Additionally, for her master she analyzed how a comprehensive transport infrastructure in a low-income area of Bogotá impacts the time usage of people living in the influence zone by implementing a Multiple Discrete Continuous Extreme Value Model.
Research profile
On her PhD Andrea Dominguez Gamez will be working on Xcarcity, a NWO funded project. The main goal of the project is exploring smart mobility solutions for more sustainable cities with less car usage. Her research will analyze the user behavior, perception and acceptance of a Crowd sourced delivery system in urban areas. For that purpose she will follow qualitative and quantitative methods.
