Introductie / missie
Group Hessels is a dynamic group of students and researchers developing and employing advanced diagnostic techniques to measure reactive gas-liquid-solid systems. The obtained data is essential for understanding and improving many industrial processes, especially in the energy sector.

Organisatieprofiel
Many industrial processes rely on the interplay and reactions between gases, solids, and liquids. Examples include renewable energy storage, spray drying and production of EUV for lithography. To better understand these processes, our group uses and develops advanced in-situ and ex-situ measurement techniques to analyze these systems. Group Hessels also investigates, together with other groups within Power and Flow, the use of metal powder as a carrier for renewable energy, where it specifically focuses on the influence of impurities on the cycle’s performance.
The group has strong collaboration within the TU/e, as well as with researchers and engineers at companies, universities, and institutes both nationally and internationally (i.e. Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Italy, United States, and New-Zealand).
