What we do

Over de organisatie

Most modern control systems (e.g. automotive control systems, high-precision motion systems) are realized on embedded platforms. Embedded platforms are constrained by one or more resources, e.g. computation, communication, memory, energy/power. Platform architecture, control software and scheduling play a key role to achieve functional correctness (e.g. stability and performance) of the embedded controllers.  The ECS Lab focusses on implementation-aware analysis and co-design of feedback control systems.


One specific focus has been on design and analysis of image-based control loop, e.g. advanced driver assistant systems, imaged-based high-precision carrier systems.  Due to compute-heavy nature of image-processing, processing architecture, choice of algorithm, implementation and accuracy are important design aspects. We further look at efficient design flow facilitating code-generation, testing, debugging and tooling using hardware/software/model-in-the-loop (HIL/SIL/MIL) experiments.

Other focus on cooperative autonomous driving (using V2X and in-vehicle communication for example) complying with standards such IEEE 802.11p, FlexRay, TT Ethernet for an improved deployability of such technologies. We develop realistic simulation environment both in SIL and HIL (multi-layer toolchain for control, communication and network).
