The course Materials Science introduces the fundamental concepts of this multidisciplinary discipline which deals with the relationships between the structure, morphology, composition, and the mechanical, optical, magnetic and electrical properties of different classes of materials. The course Materials Science intends to provide a broad overview of the topic, discussing the atomic structure, mesoscale morphology, chemical composition, processing, resulting properties leading to specific applications and the characterization of materials. In addition, for chemical engineering and chemistry relevant statistical techniques for analyzing and modeling experimental data are introduced in this course.
