We are living in a technological world: science and technology (S&T) are interwoven with almost every aspect of our societies. S&T has played an important role in addressing many problems and now, in view of grand societal challenges such as climate change or poverty, scientific expertise and technological artefacts are again expected to offer innovative solutions. Given that S&T are so central in and to our lives, a question arises as to (how) societies can manage these innovations in a way that helps them achieve a more sustainable future? This course will introduce you to a variety of basic approaches to managing S&T based on sustainability transitions, innovation sciences and STS studies.
