Polymer reaction engineering deals with the description and modelling of polymerization processes. In comparison with other chemicals, polymer properties are more intimately linked with the production process. Changing, e.g., reactor, temp, RTD and feed can dramatically alter composition and molar mass distributions, thereby altering the product properties (and application). PRE combines effects on length scales ranging from molecular to reactor scale, trying to solve complex chemical problems.
