Computer simulations used in mechanical engineering solve numerically the differential equations which govern e.g. the balance of momentum. This course treats the theory and algorithms used in translating such equations into computer codes. As a part of the course, we build our own simple simulation code in Matlab - but after completing it students are also better prepared to use commercial codes for fluid dynamics and solid mechanics problems.
