Omschrijving

Many problems in biomechanics can be described by partial differential equations. To solve these equations the finite element method is applied. There are several packages available to perform finite element simulations. This course aims to train you in the application of one or more of these different finite element packages for (biomedical) engineering problems. To this end, example problems are taken from both solid and fluid mechanics.

Doelstellingen

Translate a biomechanical problem to equations that can be solved using the finite element method
Use finite element packages to apply the finite element method when modelling problems from biomedical engineering
Obtain insight in the possibilities and limitations of and differences between finite element packages by analysing the results
