A stone in the Antwerp stomach

Pers / media: Vakinhoudelijk commentaar

Omschrijving

Article for the Belgian (Flemish) newspaper De Standaard. Reflection on the outrage in Antwerp over the architecture of the cruise terminal joined to the medieval castle 't Steen (the Stone). Possibly the outrage is caused less by aesthetics than by politics: the somewhat corny and therefore innocent Stone is suddenly turned into a terminal for severely polluting cruise ships. Thus it has become a monument of the conservative Antwerp powers that be that show how little they care about environmental damage.
