The 21st century presents significant urban health challenges, such as aging and growing populations, rapid urbanization, climate change and pollution, congestion, growing inequality, social segregation and exclusion, and, in general, increasing pressure on inhabitants’ health, life expectancy, and well-being. This emphasizes the need to rethink preventive health strategies and raises the question of how to plan and design cities that are safe and attractive, allow everyone to participate in meaningful activities, engage with others, and promote a healthy lifestyle. This DDSS seminar presented the research at the intersection of urban planning, design and healthy living, and also its link research to education.
