A new class of linear motion systems are required to future-proof the technology for high force propulsion, as the industry aims to boost manufacturing throughput. In that regard, superconducting technology is being proposed to improve magnetic flux density and therefore propulsion force by manifold when compared to current state-of-the-art permanent magnet machines
