Beschrijving

Due to climate change, Dutch summers are getting hotter. Ironically, this is leading to increased greenhouse gas emissions because a growing number of households install artificial cooling. While cooling is not the only or even most effective way of staying comfortable in hot weather, it is the easiest from an end-user perspective.
On a quest to break this dominant paradigm, dr. Lenneke Kuijer worked with design students and industry stakeholders to develop a series of 16 design fictions that decentralize easy comfort and assume a different kind of end-user. Inspirations from these design fictions formed the basis for an alternative vision on the future of summer comfort, and illustrate how design fictions can help to challenge undesirable paradigms in design.
