This paper addresses the use of wavelength routing in a network composed of a stack of coloured PONs, called FlexPON. This allows the realization of Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) networks, that can provide high bandwidth efficiency and extreme flexibility to the customers. The system is able to provide bandwidth where needed, when needed. Measurement results and design issues for a proof-of-principle demonstrator are shown throughout the paper.
