Abstract

Ultraviolet photoemission measurements were carried out in the photon energy range 7.7-21.2 eV on thin epitaxially grown layers of n- and p-type conducting Y3Fe5O12. The samples were cleaned in situ by ion bombardment followed by annealing treatment. Photoemission spectra were recorded in 4p geometry by using an a.c. modulation technique. The photoelectron energy distribution curves show the absence of narrow Fe 3d states.
