Abstract
An ultrafast all-optical differentiator based on an asymmetric Mach-Zehnder interferometer
is proposed. The device has a simple structure and can be integrated. Differentiation operations for Gaussian and super-Gaussian optical pulses are numerically shown successfully with very small deviation from the ideal differentiator output. The working speed of the device is only limited by the size of the device.
