Abstract

A partially miscible polymer PMMA/SAN blend is used in 2Kinjection molding to produce a sandwich structure with aheterogeneous skin layer. Two different strategies are explored toobtain the desired structure either via sequential injectionmolding or via the use of the fountain flow. Both cases arestudied with scanning electron microscopy to visualize thestructure in the skin layer. In addition, numerical modelingexamples are presented to improve understanding of themorphologies that have been created with injection molding.
