Truck simulation models for SIL and HIL to verify vehicle stability control systems

Abstract

DAF uses Software-in-the-Loop to verify the functional behaviour of the Vehicle Stability Control system (VSC) for a wide range of circumstances. Hardware-in-the-Loop is used to check the behaviour of VSC and the information feedback to the driver in case of faults. This paper focuses on building and validating the SIL and HIL vehicle models that are required for these simulations. A Simpack vehicle model has been made for SIL and a Simulink model for HIL. Both simulators appear suitable for their specific task. SIL and HIL proved to be indispensable methods and supplied extra confidence in the robustness of VSC.
