    Abstract

    A review with 9 refs. concerning treatment and disposal of waterworks sludges is given. Topics discussed include: iron hydroxide sludge from groundwater treatment, ferric and aluminum hydroxide from coagulation of surface water (redn. of coagulation sludge, recycling, reuse), activated carbon, softening sludge or calcium carbonate grains, backwash water from groundwater treatment, and brine from membrane filtration processes.
