Abstract

We present the challenges, opportunities and limitations of DSP technology interoperability between different system vendors for next generation metro / regional optical networks. We compare the performance of single vendor versus multi-vendor DSP units when experimentally transmitting 1 Tb/s PM-16QAM over standard single mode fiber.
