Thermodynamic behaviour in capillary electrochromatography

The thermodn. behavior of solutes was examd. on four reversed-phase (RP) stationary phases under pressure-driven (viz. high performance liq. chromatog., HPLC) and electro-driven (viz. capillary electrochromatog., CEC) conditions. Thermodn. consts. such as std. enthalpy, entropy, and Gibbs free energy were compared for both sepn. modes. Differences and/or similarities obsd. were used as a tool in gaining a better understanding of the sepn. mechanism in CEC compared to HPLC. In addn., effects of temp. on the magnitude of electroosmotic flow (EOF) are explained in detail. [on SciFinder (R)]
