Abstract

The visibility threshold of a Gaussian deviation in the luminance or the white‐point of a display has been determined. In the most critical situation, i.e. for homogeneous and moving images, the threshold corresponds to a ΔE*uv of about 1 in the case of a local luminance variation and a ΔE*uv of about 2.5 in the case of a local variation in the white‐point.
