Abstract
The visibility threshold of a global luminance profile of a display has been determined with and without an undistorted display as a reference and for both a black and silver‐grayish color of the bezel frame. Results indicate a significant effect of the color of the bezel frame and a dependence on image content. For natural images, the visibility threshold is significantly lower with than without a reference, especially for those profiles, which are darker in the center than near the edges.
