Abstract

The Radio Astron Satellite carries a 10 meter radio-telescope antenna with multi-band, dual polarisation reception capability. Both right-hand and left-hand circularly polarised signals can be received in each of the four planned frequency bands. An important element in the antenna to realise such a capability is a multi-frequncy feed. The Radio-Astron feed is an original design. This paper introduces the antenna configuration with emphasis on the feed design. Some design aspects are described, illustrated with test results, as encountered during the development process.
