Abstract

Alpinia breviligulata Gagnep. is a wild plant blooming in August, whose flowers have a characteristic odor. The chem. compn. of the flower oil of this plant has been analyzed by a combination of capillary gas chromatog. and GC/MS. More than 35 components have been identified, of which a-pinene (12.7%), b-pinene (20.2%) and b-caryophyllene (14.0%) were the main compds. The components which provide the characteristic aroma are verbenone, bornyl acetate, hedycarvol, (E)-nerolidol, guaiol and b-eudesmol
