Abstract
The N.M.R. spectrum of the pentadienyl anion was recorded at -20 Deg and the results compared with those of the isoelectronic anion, in which one methylenic group is replaced by O. When an O atom and a methylenic group compete for neg. charge, in an ambident anion, the former acquires more neg. charge than the latter. [on SciFinder (R)]
