Abstract

Upon heating 7-methylcycloheptatriene, the 3-, 1- and 2-isomers are successively formed by 1-5 shifts of hydrogen. The rate consts. at 140 Deg were detd. Photochem. 1-7 shifts of hydrogen are also reported: the 1-isomer yields preferentially the 7-isomer and little of the 2-isomer, while the 2-isomer yields mainly the 3-isomer and little of the alternative 1-isomer.
