Abstract
When the 7-isomer of the title compound is heated, the successive formation of the 3-, 1-, and 2-isomers by thermal 1–5 shifts of hydrogen is observed. Irradiation of the 3-isomer yields the 2-isomer. The rate constants for the various shifts are 1.7 ± 0.4 times larger than the corresponding constants for phenylcycloheptatriene.
