Abstract
The ambident anions derived from imines were alkylated using a variety of solvents and alkylating agents. Under reactive conditions enamines (N-alkylation) are formed as the main products instead of the usually obsd. homologous imines (C-alkylation). The influence of the type of imine, solvent, and alkylating agent on the mode of alkylation is discussed. [on SciFinder (R)]
