Abstract

Two rigid Troger's base dizinc(II) bis-porphyrin receptor mols. (I) and the 1st generation of dendrimer tetramine N,N,N',N'-Tetrakis(3-aminopropyl)-1,4-diaminobutane (4) form a 2:1 complex 5, a self-assembled spherical superstructure encapsulating the dendrimer. UV-vis binding studies of I with 1,7-diaminoheptane (2) and 1,12-diaminododecane (3) indicate that the 14 atom chain binds more strongly than the 9 atom chain which is consistent with the proposed structure of 5
